Day & Night of the Living Ales (Sold Out)
| March 7, 2009 | ||
| 1:00 pm | to | 5:00 pm |
| 6:00 pm | to | 10:00 pm |
For the fifth consecutive year, CBS will be sponsoring the region’s largest celebration of cask-conditioned ales, with some 40 casks of real ale from Chicagoland breweries and some very special guests. As always, this promises to be a big firkin deal for area real ale enthusiasts. Attendees will be able to sample the beers and then vote for the 2009 Champion Real Ale of Chicagoland. Last year, Surly Brewing swooped in from Minnesota and nicked the title with their Tea-bagged Furious (Hoppy). Will a local brewer take back the honor in ’09? You decide!
Last year we attracted a record crowd, but it was often uncomfortably crowded. As a result, we’ve split the event into two sessions and limited attendance to only 250 people for each session.
Day and Night of the Living Ales will be held at Goose Island Wrigleyville, 3535 N Clark St, Chicago, over two spirited sessions: 1-5 pm and 6-10 pm (9:45 last call). Admission includes a tasting glass, beer samples and appetizers (artisanal meats and cheeses). You must be 21 or older to be admitted. As of Tuesday evening, March 3, both sessions are now sold out. Thanks!
Thanks once again to all our members and guests for your continuing support of this event. Extra thanks to the Brewers Supply Group for their sponsorship this year.
As always, we recommend that you take public transportation or arrange for a designated driver. Goose Island Wrigleyville is located approximately 2 blocks west of the CTA Red Line Addison station (one-half block south of Wrigley Field). The CTA 22 Clark bus runs past the front door all night; taxis are also an easy option.

I sent in for two tickets to the evening session of the Night of the Living Ales, but have not received them yet. Did you get my order or are they in the mail? The order was sent on Feb 11 by mail.
Stevie on 25 Feb 2009 at 9:16 am #
Carle, your order has been processed and the tickets should have been mailed. If, for some reason, you do not receive them in time, just come to the event and check in at our registration desk – you are definitely on the list.

Is it drink-per-ticket, or one admission gets you all you can taste? I’ve always had a good time at the real ale events, goose wrigley is a great place to host this. When do you think the evening session will sell out? I’d like to wait until friday to buy my tix.

One admission includes all tasters. Hard to say if or when the evening session will sell out, though.

I sent in an order form and a check for Day tickets on 2/14 and I haven’t seen anything in the mail yet. Am I out of luck? Do I need to buy night tickets online now?
Stevie on 02 Mar 2009 at 1:15 pm #
Paul, you’re definitely on the ticket list (for 2 tickets). If you don’t receive your tickets in the mail, just come to the event and check in at Will Call. No need to buy night tickets.

I sent in a form the week around the 20th for 3 daytime session tickets. Is it possible to switch my tickets to the evening given there are still slots available? I’m not sure if I’m on the list but was curious.
Thanks for all the great work you guys do!
Jon

Will there be a list of beers posted before the event? I like to plan ahead to make sure I try everything I want…
Stevie on 02 Mar 2009 at 9:24 pm #
Jon, it’s OK. Just come to the evening session and make sure you check in at Will Call. Our Treasurer for Life, Bob Lifka, will be expecting you.
Stevie on 02 Mar 2009 at 9:27 pm #
Alex, Jeff Sparrow posted a preliminary list above (24 Feb 2009). The list may not be 100% correct, but it’s pretty close to what we expect.

When and where is the Popskull Preview? Thanks!
Stevie on 04 Mar 2009 at 10:54 am #
We’re supposed to have a cask of Popskull at the event this Saturday, so it should be available for both sessions. If you don’t have a ticket for either one, you’ll have to look elsewhere. Also note that sometimes we don’t get all the expected beers, so there are no guarantees.

Does anyone have any tickets available for the event on Saturday? Either sessions? Let me know? Prost!

Hi!
Joe mailed out a check renewing our membership and had included payment for (2) tickets to the evening session of the Night of the Living Ales and have we yet to receive any tickets. Are we still in for the evening event? Please advise.
Helen

We attended Saturday and had a lot of fun, but had to leave before the end. As a “public service,” please post the contest winners — perhaps the top 10 beer favorites.
