2012 Day of the Living Ales (Sold Out)
| March 3, 2012 | ||
| 1:00 pm | to | 5:00 pm |
| 6:00 pm | to | 10:00 pm |
For the eighth consecutive year, CBS will be sponsoring Day of the Living Ales, a walk-around real ale tasting featuring the best cask conditioned ales from Chicagoland breweries and some very special guests. We’ll also be serving fine meats, cheeses, and other appetizers to help you consume responsibly.
As always, DotLA will feature the region’s largest selection of real ales (40+ casks), all of them coddled by our own staff of experienced cellarmen, trained in the UK to care for and serve real ale. Remember, a properly served real ale is neither cloudy, flat, nor warm; rather, it is bright, with a gentle carbonation and served at cellar temperature. Accept no substitute!
Attendees will be able to sample the beers and then vote for the 2012 Champion Real Ale of Chicagoland. Last year’s winners were:
- Goose Island Beer Company Skully (saison aged in oak barrels with fresh strawberries, honey, and Champagne yeast)
- Goose Island Beer Company Bourbon County Brand Coffee Stout
- Three Floyds Zombie Dust
Will a local brewer earn repeat honors in 2012? You decide!
Day of the Living Ales will be held at Goose Island Wrigleyville, 3535 N Clark St, Chicago, over two sessions: 1-5 pm (4:45 last call) and 6-10 pm (9:45 last call). Only 250 tickets per session will be sold. Admission includes a tasting glass, beer samples and appetizers (artisanal meats and cheeses). All attendees must be at least 21 years old.
The event is now completely sold out. Any orders received after the sold out was reached will be returned/refunded. Thanks for the overwhelming response to the event, and apologies to all of you who could not get a ticket.

Is there a mistake above? Is the online ordering option going to be for members only, or for nonmembers as written? If the online ordering is for nonmembers, does that pose a disadvantage to members?
Stevie on 21 Jan 2012 at 10:50 pm #
Thanks, I’ve changed the description above to make this more clear.
Our online service cannot distinguish between members and nonmembers, so anyone who uses the service will pay the nonmember rate. Members who want the $5 discount will need to mail in the order form you will soon be receiving in the mail.

Stevie on 25 Jan 2012 at 10:34 pm #
Mark, Drew, and Chad: please be patient. We don’t have a link to BPT yet but will very soon.
Meanwhile, you can mail in a standard order form (PDF) that is available via a link above.

Do the mailed order forms have to be postmarked by a certain date? I’m thinking it is already too late for me to mail it in.
Stevie on 27 Jan 2012 at 10:33 am #
No postmark requirement. This isn’t like the Shootout.

Great, thanks Stevie! I dropped mine in the mail on Friday. I hope it reaches you before the online option becomes active. I really enjoyed this event last year so I’m looking forward to another great session!

No worries everyone, they will all sellout faster than stoutfest! XD

The clock is running. Goose Stout Fest already sold out in seconds after their online ticket link went up. When will we get there?
Saran on 01 Feb 2012 at 12:38 pm #
So how will mailed in sales be handled if this sells out online? I already sent in a cheque.
Gary on 03 Feb 2012 at 9:08 am #

Saran on 03 Feb 2012 at 12:36 pm #

Hello, I sent my check in on Jan 27th. I see it hasn’t been cashed yet. We signed up for the afternoon session. How will we get confirmation that our order was accepted?
thanks!
Matt on 05 Feb 2012 at 11:34 am #
Hi Stevie, I wanted to bump Gary + Marnie’s question–how will we know about the outcome of mail orders? Do we just wait to see if our checks get cashed and tickets show up?
As you can probably tell, some of us are anxious
.
