10th Annual Chicagoland Brewpub & Microbrewery Shootout – Sold Out
| January 19, 2008 | ||
| 1:00 pm | to | 5:00 pm |
Come out and enjoy the best beers and best foods from Chicago area brewpubs and microbreweries. Sample a bunch of beers and each brewery’s food item and then vote for your favorites (beer, food item, and beer-food combination). Winners will be announced at the end of the event. Support your favorite brewery or brewpub – or discover a new favorite. Either way, you get to taste the very best beer and food that Chicago has to offer.
The Shootout runs from 1-5 pm at the Irish American Heritage Center, 4626 N Knox Ave, Chicago. Tickets are $40 for members, $50 for nonmembers (if any are available). You must be 21 or older to attend this non-smoking event. NOTE: due to the enormous demand for tickets, the following policy is in effect:
- Only current members as of December 1, 2007 can order tickets (1 ticket per single member; 2 tickets for couples) from December 12 through the end of the year. Requests for multiple tickets will not be honored.
- Orders will be filled based on postmark date. Once we reach capacity, all unfilled orders will be returned and a sellout will be posted here.
- If tickets are still available after this exclusive members-only offer, a PDF order form will be posted here on January 2, 2008. Again, nonmember or additional member orders will be processed based on postmark date. Nonmember orders sent prior to January 2 (assuming tickets are still available) will be returned.
We’re sorry that we have to enforce such strict guidelines, but space is extremely limited and the demand is extremely high. We cannot even guarantee tickets for all our members. Thanks for your unbelievable support for the Shootout. Best of luck with your ticket orders and hope to see you at the IAHC!
As of Monday, December 31, the Shootout is completely SOLD OUT. We were able to sell all available tickets via our exclusive offer to our members. To increase your chances of getting a ticket in the future, join CBS!
Occasionally a few tickets may be available as current ticket holders run into last-minute conflicts. Please monitor the CBS-HB listserv, as this is typically where people announce that they have some available.

Zemo, here are copy and pasted directions from an email Roger sent last year. These directions are a year old, so I am not sure whether the train times are still accurate, but I guess they should be.
“PUBLIC TRANSIT: Lots of good options, depending on where you’re coming
from:
CTA Blue Line (O’Hare branch) to Montrose. From Montrose Avenue, follow the sidewalk alongside the northeast (outbound) side of the expressway, behind people’s garages, for two blocks to Knox Street, and then continue one more block north on Knox to the center.
>From the North Side, take the Red Line to Lawrence, or the Metra UP North Line (Kenosha) to Ravenswood, or the Brown Line to the end of the line at Kimball, and transfer to a Westbound #81 Lawrence bus to Knox Street. (The #81 bus runs 24/7, and has a 9-12 minute frequency on Saturday afternoon.)
>From O’Hare, take the Blue Line “L” to Jefferson Park, and transfer to an Eastbound #81 Lawrence bus to Knox Street, and walk 1 block south on Knox to the center. You can also take the Metra UP-Northwest Line (Harvard, Palatine…) to Jefferson Park to transfer to the Lawrence bus. There is a train leaving Oglvie Station Downtown at 12:30, and trains back home to Downtown at 5:01 and 7:01. Inbound, trains leave Harvard at 10:35 and 11:35, and trains back home at 5:48, 6:48, and 8:48.
>From the Northwest Burbs, or from Union Station in Downtown Chicago, take the Metra Milwaukee District North Line (Fox Lake, Libertyville…) to the Mayfair Station. Walk north on Cicero Avenue across the Kennedy Expressway, and turn right (east) on Wilson Avenue across the Edens Expressway one block to the center. This walking route is almost entirely composed of underpasses or bridges – bring your camera! There is a train that leaves Union Station at 12:35 that arrives at Mayfair at 12:54 – perfect. There’s a train back home Downtown from Mayfair at 5:56. Inbound, there is a train that leaves Fox Lake at 10:45 that arrives at Mayfair at 11:56, and trains back home at 5:54 and 6:54.
TIP: After the event, enjoy the Chicago area’s most perfectly poured pint of Guinness downstairs at the Fifth Province Pub, on the first floor of the IAHC. Live Irish music! (Just don’t stay too long, you’ve got another party coming Sunday!)”
