Moving forward, our monthly First Thursday gathering will focus on homebrewing, brewing topics and other subjects relevant to homebrewing and the local Chicago beer community. We will continue to be a forum for local homebrewers to share their labors and receive input from those who love beer as much as they do.
Due to Goose Island Clybourn being closed for renovations until at least June 2017, our upcoming meetups will be hosted at some of our favorite breweries around Chicago. Here’s our upcoming schedule of guest speakers and/or special First Thursday events:
March 2017: Forbidden Root Restaurant & Brewery – 1746 W Chicago Ave, Chicago, IL 60622
We’ll have a large table reserved towards the back back (by the entrance to the brewery area) and two of the main minds behind Forbidden Root – BJ Pichman and Randy Mosher (both longtime CBS members) – will be on hand to take us on a private tour of the facility around 8pm. Early arrival is recommended though – especially if you haven’t yet had the chance to try the amazing food here. As usual, feel free to bring your homebrew or other bottles to share with the group. Also: anyone present will be able to purchase tickets to Night of the Living Ales at a discounted rate reserved for First Thursday attendees. If you’re interested in tickets, just ask for Tom or Peter and we’ll get you sorted out.
April 2017: Cruz Blanca Cervecería – 904 W Randolph Street Chicago, IL 60607
Head brewer Jacob Sembrano will be on hand to show us around & answer any questions the group might have… more details to come – stay tuned!
May 2017: Revolution Brewing Taproom – 3340 N Kedzie Ave Chicago, IL 60618
