AKA: Thirst Fursday
This is the place to bring your brew for expert review or just to show off. Also the best place to catch up on local beer happenings. We generally gather in Siebel Hall around 7 p.m., but to be absolutely certain of our exact location, ask at one of the host stations or the bar. Experienced judges and great professional and amateur brewers are always on hand to provide their critique of your homebrew, if you so desire. This is the forum to get answers to your brew-related questions and join in with Chicago’s “beer elite.”
Lately we’ve also been doing some brief educational sessions focusing on sensory analysis and the AHA Club-Only Competitions. If you have an idea for a special topic, please let us know!
The Goose Island Brewpub is located at 1800 N Clybourn, Chicago. Closest CTA stops are North/Clybourn (Red Line) and Armitage (Brown Line). Cabs are easily available on Clybourn Avenue.

I am bringing a couple different styles tomorrow night and was wondering how many 22oz bottles of each I should bring so everyone gets a healthy sample of what I’ve made. Please let me know how much is enough for everyone.
Danke!

three 22oz is plenty to bring if it’s good, two is plenty if it’s mediocre, and one is plenty if you’re looking for reasons why it didn’t work out…

isn’t the next one actually nov 5? also, i’m planning to start an all-grain system within the next month. is there anyone i can talk to about equipment and sources for malt? i’ll be sure to bring samples of ales with hops from the community garden. thanks.

Yes, it’s November 5. I goofed when updating the calendar. There should be plenty of people to talk to about equipment and malt sources, cheers!

Is this event only for brewers or are beer enthusiasts welcome? Do you have to bring a beer you’ve brewed to get in the door?
Stevie on 04 Nov 2009 at 11:15 am #
Nope, beer enthusiasts are also welcome. Come on down!

Hey. I’ve had my beer on tap at WEEGEE’s on Armitage for about a year. I donate 100% to the Chicago Police Memorial. How can I join the Chi Beer Society? I’d like to get some good honest critiques.

Hey guys – A quick recap and some pics of the Jan 7th gathering. Such a great event! http://goodbeerhunting.posterous.com/appeasing-the-chicago-beer-gods

Hey,
I’m hoping to get up there for the April first event. Looking to get some critiques on my second batch (it’s an extract), I’m really going to try to get into brewing more, I love it. I was wondering if there are any south siders attending this event that would let me pick their brain and maybe meet up for a few brew sessions so I can learn how to brew the “right” way.
Would a 6 pack be enough for everyone to try?
Thanks,
Matt
